I hereby interrupt this Lenten semi-silence to bring you the latest from Laughing Land. Seth--my Navy brother--returned safe and sound from deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, boarded a plane, and headed toward Nebraska the Friday before last. I surprised the girls at the airport; I told them we were going to pick up Nana, which was partly true. They were surprised when Seth was with her! (My mom "Nana" flew to San Diego and boarded Seth's ship for a Tiger Cruise to Seattle. They returned home together.) See the video of my surprised girls--who idolize their uncle--
HERE. No, Seth isn't home for good. He stayed a little over a week, then began his drive back to Seattle/Everett WA on Monday morning. He has another 18 months in the Navy, then he's free to return to civilian life.
| Seth hadn't been in the house long when he had two nieces and a nephew on his lap. They missed him! |
| We turned our family room into a dining room, bought a new table, 10 chairs, and invited people over! (Okay, so that's the short version of the story ... this is our first "real" piece of furniture and a celebration of 10 years of married life. I'm so excited!) |
| I love my hot husband! |
| Maria, Maria |
| The kids helped roll dice and brought us sodas. |
| Monopoly! |
| Sophie and Eli will graduate in May! They are the youngest of the 9 of my siblings. |
| Laughing all the way ... to the poor house. I was broke (playing Monopoly). It's a good thing that Sophie was filthy rich. She kept paying rent for me so I could stay in the game. |
| Leighton and Eli get ready to celebrate Leighton's birthday at Grandma's house. |
Eli and Madeleine
Eli leaves for Marine boot camp August 1st. |
| Seth tickles Madeleine. This is my grandparents' kitchen. My grandpa made it for her. Seriously. |
| Grandma's to-go containers |
| Eli, Sophie, and Maria |
| When Noah was beginning to talk, he called Leighton "ceiling." You can see why, yes? He's 6'4" tall. |
| Madeleine |
| Hike around the pond ... a must for my children (several times, usually) when we are at Grandpa and Grandma's house. |
| Pretty cocoon |
| Yes, this is my daughter waving around the dried remains of a dead Opossum. Nice. |
| More Monopoly at Grandma's! |
| My grandpa had made a fire to roast hot dogs and my kids played with it after supper. |
| Only Eli |
| My grandma |
| Seth ... this is the man who is allowed to play with nuclear reactors in the Navy. |
| Grandpa (mine) and Maria |
